Welcome to the Motor Collection
The vehicles displayed in this collection belong to Derek, members of his family, and a number of friends who have kindly provided vehicles for exhibition.
Over the years we have received many enquiries by email and through social media from people interested in seeing a list of the cars within Derek’s collection. Rather than simply sending a few photographs or brief descriptions, we felt it would be far better to open the doors and allow visitors to experience the collection for themselves.
The exhibits vary greatly in character and age — from an elegant Aston Martin Mk VI to a recently acquired Raleigh Runabout. While the vehicles may be very different from one another, each has, in its own way, captured the interest and enthusiasm of the Mathewson family.
Also on display is Derek’s fondness for a variety of other collectables, including lamps, enamel signs, bicycles, and plenty of other curiosities in between (although we may quietly overlook his well-known appreciation for downpipes!).
We hope you enjoy exploring the collection and kindly ask that all exhibits are treated with care and respect.
Visitor Information
Due to the character and layout of the building, as well as the close positioning of some exhibits, access within parts of the collection may be limited for visitors using mobility aids such as wheelchairs or walking frames. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding.
Toilets
Please note that there are currently no visitor toilet facilities available on site. The nearest public toilets can be found near the village pond, over the bridge beside Lavenders Tea Room.
We hope you enjoy visiting the collection and thank you for your understanding.
